On July 25, 2018—after a meeting at a symposium hosted by King’s College London, entitled 68 and its Legacies—Sophia Freeman interviewed prominent 1960s & ‘70s radical Kathleen Cleaver via Skype. In 1967, following a secretarial job with the New York office of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee, Cleaver joined the Black Panther Party, where she became Communications Secretary.
